Beaded Cabochon
Instructor: Carolyn Cook
Beginner Class fee: $25.00
Saturday, November 22, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon
Learn to create your own pendant using a cabochon - a flat backed bead, pendant piece, or stone that has no hole. A backing, usually of ultrasuede or leather, is attached and beads are sewn around the cabochon to hold it firmly in place, using graduating sizes of seed beads. The beads make a decorative edging and a bail. You will learn several different beading techniques, including backstitch, peyote, and netting. We will also talk about various embellishing techniques, and the ways in which to make your pendant into a necklace. Materials: Cabochon, ultrasuede, Nymo size D or C-Lon, size 10 and 12 beading needles, E6000 glue or TackyTape, toothpick, small sewing scissors to cut ultrasuede, Size 11 and 15 seed beads and Delicas. We have kits available that include a porcelain cabochon, the seed beads, ultrasuede, one size 10 and size 12 needle.
